Governance Officer

Job Description

Ref:4340 1. Keep governance policies, standards and processes up to date, ensuring these are communicated through the Governance Manual and the Lewisham Homes’ website. 2. Be responsible for keeping Board Members well informed, receiving communications on any relevant news or legal and policy changes and bulletins. 3. Provide a point of contact for Board Members for any issues or enquiries they may have. 4. Be responsible for the overall facilities management of meetings, and other events (booking venues, arranging catering and equipment etc). 5. Be responsible for the creation of the annual plan of meetings for the Board, Committees, Executive Leadership Team, Board training and other meetings and events. Take account of other Council, organisational and individual commitments. Make amendments to this programme throughout the year as necessary. 6. Manage Board and Executive forward plans, ensuring calendars are up to date and agendas reflect the decisions made by the relevant body and its chair. 7. Ensure that meetings papers are quality assured; checking them for content, accuracy, style and format and make amendments as necessary in order to ensure a high quality standard. Ensure these are distributed to the relevant meeting attendees within agreed deadlines. 8. On a regular basis attend Board, Committee and Executive governance meetings. Many of these meetings take place in the evening. 9. Take accurate notes of meetings and produce concise, accurate and well-formatted minutes. Ensure these minutes are signed off by the chair of the meeting in a timely fashion. Record and follow up actions from meetings, ensuring completed actions are logged.
