36 hours per week 

To give advice, guidance, assistance and support to tenants with regards to income maximisation through the take up of appropriate benefits and discretionary awards.. Prepare reports and statistical analyses of caseload, Build effective relationships with LA and DWP Benefit leads to enhance partnership working

Key responsibilities

 To provide a comprehensive welfare benefits advice and income maximisation service to customers.

 Ensure income maximisation through the take up of appropriate benefits and discretionary awards for customers

 Give advice, guidance, assistance and support to tenants with regard to income maximisation and statutory benefits and to ensure customers are not financially excluded

 Keep up to date with and disseminate information on, all national and local benefits changes, both legislative and administrative, as appropriate

 Advocate and negotiate on behalf of the Association and its customers with the relevant statutory authorities on individual cases up to and including representation at First Tier Tribunal in respect of a wide range of welfare benefits

 Prepare reports and statistical analyses of caseload as required

 Initiate take-up campaigns amongst the Association's customers as required

 Develop and maintain links with statutory agencies, adopt a corporate approach to welfare reform and participate in the negotiation of service level agreements where appropriate

 Represent the Association externally on all aspects of welfare benefits and welfare reform.

 Establish networks with Welfare Benefits Advisors both internally and externally, in order to share experience, knowledge and good practice. Identify and replicate good practice initiatives in the sector that address and mitigate the effects and risks of welfare reform for both customers and Clarion.

 Build effective relationships with LA and DWP Benefit leads to enhance partnership working and sharing of information in accordance with data protection regulation.

 To work with Housing and other teams to identify customers who would benefit from welfare advice-and support

Personal Specification

 A good working knowledge of the current law with regards to welfare benefits and welfare reform  Proven experience of providing Welfare Benefit advice and support to customers  Able to assist and help individuals who may have social, health or financial difficulties
